Employee Story: Magna Global IT Makes a Change to Reduce their Plastic Use!

Did you know that plastic water bottles can take over 1000 years to biodegrade?

Magna’s Global IT office in Concord, Ontario has ditched plastic water bottles to reduce their eco footprint and reduce their impact on the environment. There are many alternatives to using single-use plastic water bottles including utilizing one of the many reusable water bottles on the market made from stainless steel, glass or reusable BPA-free plastic. A simple change to a reusable water bottle eliminates 365 plastic water bottles from entering a landfill, assuming you drink from one single-use water bottle per day.

Magna’s Global IT office in Concord recognized the impact that could be made by eliminating the 240 plastic water bottles that they were using on average each week. They replaced their plastic water bottle waste by setting up a water bottle refill station with settings for hot, cold and carbonated water. This is an amazing change that will have a positive impact and is one you can also make. Replace your single-use water bottles and reduce your waste by switching to a reusable bottle today!

Coordinator Review– Claire Brennan

My favourite water bottle I’ve used is the S’well water bottle. S’well bottles are made from stainless steel and are double walled which means they keep my water cold for up to 24 hours. The initial cost of the bottle is offset by its durability. I have had my S’well bottle for over 3 years now and aside from a few scratches from dropping it over the years, it continues to keep my water cold and was worth the initial $40 investment.

If water temperature isn’t important to you, Nalgene BPA free plastic water bottles are an affordable alternative.
