Upper Body Stretches

Post Image

Unfortunately, pain in the wrists, neck, shoulders, or upper back has become a normal part of life for many people. Here are a few stretches to help with stiff joints and muscle soreness of the upper body. Try these exercises at the end of your day to release tension and reduce pain.

A safety reminder

Stop if you feel any pain. Discomfort is normal, but sharp pain is not. If you experience sharp pain, stop right away and check with your doctor or physiotherapist. If you have a history of surgery, injury, or a lot of pain in any of the joints or muscles being used, check with your doctor before trying these stretches.

Now, let’s get to the stretches!

  1. Neck Stretch. Watch the demonstration video here.
  2. Wrist Stretches. Watch the demonstration video here.
  3. Arm Swings. Watch the demonstration video here.
  4. Back Opener. Watch the demonstration video here.
  5. Chest Stretch. Watch the demonstration video here.
  6. Upper Spine Rotation. Watch the demonstration video here.

Hopefully, your upper body feels nice and loose after moving your body. Repeat a few times per week along with strength training exercises to reduce pain and stiffness long term!
