Meet Tracey and Shelley. They have been Employee Advocates for 6 of their 23 years working at Autosystems in Belleville, Ontario. Their story exemplifies how when you collaborate with people who share a passion for helping others, communities can thrive.
Tracey and Shelley attended their first Magna conference in Aurora 6 years ago where they learned about the Magna Match program. This program allows employees to double donations they raise for charities, not-for-profits, or employees in need by having them matched by Magna! This sparked interest for Tracey and Shelley, and they brought their ideas back to Autosystems with the goal of making a difference in their community.
At the start of each year, Tracey and Shelley plan which community organizations they will support each month. Many employees have been inspired by the program and offer suggestions for local initiatives. They have raised funds to support the Welcoming Streets non-profit for the homeless, the Belleville food bank, and Tears Mean Love which supports families facing childhood cancer, among many others.
These fundraisers have fostered a great sense of community within Autosystems and connected people from their three plants in support of one another. When an employee faces hardship and needs support, Autosystems employees work together to uplift them through fundraising. In return, supporting their coworkers helps bring more purpose to the lives of many employees. Tracey and Shelley emphasized that since utilizing the Magna Match Program at Autosystems, they feel a great sense of pride in how much their community can give back.
What started as just a spark at a Magna conference, blossomed into a collaborative campaign year after year with the support of everyone at Autosystems. Tracey and Shelley show how great things can be accomplished when we foster relationships with like-minded people and work together as a team!
