Changing a habit is not easy! We often spend time thinking about how to change, but acting on change can take longer. One way to make it easier is by tracking the days you stick to your goal. Make sure your goals are clear, measurable, and have an end date.
Using a habit tracker can help by giving you a visual reminder of your progress. It is a wonderful way to stay motivated and feel good about your success as you track your improvements. Lastly, it is a wonderful way to record your daily habit change and keep you accountable.
When making a goal, follow the S.M.A.R.T. method. This means your goal should be:
• Specific: Have a clear area you want to focus on.
• Measurable: Be able to track your progress, like using a habit tracker.
• Attainable: Make sure there are clear rules around the goal.
• Relevant: The goal should be worthwhile and realistic for you.
• Time-bound: Have a set start and end date for the goal.
An example of a S.M.A.R.T. goal would be, “I want to lose 10 pounds by exercising for 30 minutes three times a week for the next three months."
